Liu's design focused on incorporating the beautiful riverside scenery that the couple owners loved. Large windows and a lounge area linking the living room and dining room were strategically placed to bring in the natural surroundings. The contrast between the light-toned living room and the dark-toned kitchen helped define different areas, while the detailed texture of the wall materials and the main wall in the kitchen added a sense of stability and coziness.
What sets this design apart is its innovative approach to creating a cozy home in an unfinished space. Liu used diverse materials and elevations to create a coordinated aesthetic throughout the entire residence. The use of light added a natural and fancy look, while a combination of storage capabilities, a showcase, and a hidden door to the master bedroom on the main wall in the dining room provided a stable and functional finish.
The realization of this design involved a combination of elements. The large windows, balcony with a bar, and a long wood-grain lounge created a connection to the riverside scenery. The living room's light tones, with a TV wall made of imitation marble boards, added an artistic touch. The dark-toned kitchen, with a tilted walnut ceiling, a gradient mosaic tiled wall, and a kitchen island made of Silestone and titanium plating, provided a layered and visually appealing finish.
This residential house spans an area of 221.4886㎡ and showcases the innovative and modern design approach of Yu-Ting Liu. The design team, led by Liu, successfully transformed an unfinished space into a cozy and functional home for the family.
Throughout the design, various elements interact to create a unique and inviting atmosphere. From the tiled entrance floor and the fair-faced concrete wall embedded with LED lamps to the terrazzo crossbeam and the white ceiling in the living room, each detail adds richness and style. The wood grain flooring in the living room and dining room adds a cozy touch, while the ray-reflected gradient mosaic tiled cabinet in the kitchen showcases subtle luxury. Titanium plating on the entrance screen, TV wall, kitchen island, and dressing room push door adds a touch of elegance.
The project began in November 2019 and was completed in July 2020 in Taipei. The design was inspired by the owner's love for nature, and the interior designer successfully brought the riverside scenery into the home through thoughtful design choices. The use of wood grain flooring and plants throughout the space creates a soothing and calming atmosphere.
The design of this residential house presented several challenges, including the need to create compartmental capacities in a spacious residence with no solid walls. However, through innovative detailing and elevations, Yu-Ting Liu was able to overcome these challenges and create a cozy and functional home for the family.
The End Scenery is a testament to how a person can define a place as home. Situated next to a river, the design seamlessly integrates various sceneries, from the city skyline to the riverbank. The use of materials, colors, and geometric or curved volumes showcases the harmony and fragments of memories that belong to the owner.
This design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skills, and contributions to improving quality of life.
